Teaching

Private teaching for recorder players of
all levels

I offer online lessons for pupils of any age and level on zoom or equivalent online platform.

I have several years of teaching experience, both privately and through various schools and organisations. I have been teaching my private students almost exclusively online for over 4 years now (since the pandemic!) and have developed my teaching methods accordingly to fit to this teaching style.

Experience

My education work portfolio is vast (and ever-growing!). From everything to privately teaching recorder 1-1 to co-leading workshops in refugee camps and squats, my education work has taken me across Europe - and the great variety in the areas of education I have worked in mean that I have a lot of experience in working with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Advanced students

For those who are looking to take the recorder more seriously, I am more than happy to welcome students into the crazy world of technique study!

Technique development is something that I hold great interest in, and I am passionate in helping others to develop their own skill-set, through technique exercises that will help not only their playing, but also their general musicianship and ear.

This can be anything from scales and studies, to rhythm-reading, learning by ear, music transcription, sight-transposition, anything! It is something I am incredibly passionate about, and always happy to share with my students.

Beginner-Intermediate students

For my current online students, I have developed a portfolio of materials that can be easily catered to students to help develop not only their recorder playing skills, but also their general musicianship, theory knowledge and any other part of music they might be interested to delve into. I have an ever-growing repertoire list which gives me endless ideas for repertoire for my students. With any new accompanied piece, I often also send my students accompaniment tracks, so they can experience what it's like to play with the accompaniment parts even when they're just at home!

I grew up in a very creative learning environment myself, so although I was "classically-trained" and took graded exams on various instruments throughout my childhood, I also grew up improvising and playing in all sorts of styles like folk and jazz, so for those students who prefer to take a less 'conventional' method of learning, I am equally happy to facilitate lessons where we only learn by ear for example, or focus on writing new music or improvising!

Get in Touch

Please get in touch with me via the e-mail or contact form available on the website if you have any questions!

I love being challenged by my students, it only makes me a better musician myself, so if there's something particular within your playing that you need help with, don't be afraid to ask!
